Creating a costume or prop requires deciding on a desired outcome, researching the best way to make it (leading to a hypothesis), and testing it out. For example, it’s important for costumers to know the chemical properties of adhesives, dyes, and various metals, as well as how they react with different materials.
Students will learn the application of various types of technology, such as circuit boards, LED lighting, sound and mechanical movement features to achieve awe inspiring elaborate creations.
Forms of engineering, including mechanical, structural, and sometimes even electrical come into play when designing cosplay in prop creations. Following an engineering design process, sketching, prototyping, and testing to ensure the costume is functional.
Students will be given the opportunity to express their creativity in all aspects, working with various textiles, sculpting materials (such as foams, plastics, wood, paints and finishes.
Mathematics play a very intracule part in the successful execution of the reproduction or original creation of cosplay. Students will learn to calculate various materials, and the precise measurements involved in cosplay creation.
